At DK Schoolhouse we are passionate about building good health through good nutrition!
Why Is Nutrition Important?
Good nutrition, found in wholesome fresh foods, builds healthy bodies and healthy minds.
Poor nutrition causes vitamin, mineral and protein deficiencies.
Eating chemically processed foods, sugary foods and non-food products causes harmful toxins to build up in the body and can result in a compromised immune system, lethargy, hyperactivity and frequent illness.
Our DK Food Policy
Lunches are cooked fresh each day using fresh local meats, eggs, vegetables and fruits.
We avoid using white sugar, MSG or canned, packaged or processed food in our menus.
We do not offer or make availabe to students sweetened soft drinks, or high sugar snacks like candy, cookies and various chips and crisps.
We encourage students to drink plenty of fresh water daily.
Our teachers incorporate basic facts on good nutrition into their curriculum’s, instructing children in a fun way, on the value of good, healthy food.
Snacks & Meals
Providing good nutrition and a balanced diet are crucial to maintaining our students health, physical and mental energy, and overall well-being. Students are actively involved in selecting meal choices and preparing snacks. We create student recipes and encourage parents to try these recipes at home. Each week, a new snack & lunch menu is posted including several DIY food choices. Allowing children to participate in meal prep is a wonderful way of teaching the values of good nutrition. It gives them a sense of accomplishment and teaches the importance of hygiene and kitchen safety.
DK Schoolhouse provides a 100% organic snack & lunch menu. All meals are prepared by our catering company and are selected to appeal to both Asian and Western meal preferences.
Lunch is served daily from 11:30 – 12:00pm
School snack is served twice daily; mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Parents are free to provide personalized snacks/lunches for their child, provided food options are in accordance with our school’s health food policies.
Please see the tuition fees for full details on snack and lunch costs.
